1. Agreement to Terms

By submitting an order request to CostlyCart, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Checking the "I agree to the Terms of Service" checkbox on the order form constitutes your acceptance.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not submit an order. For any questions about these terms, contact us at design_team@costlycart.com before placing an order.

2. Service Area & Eligibility

CostlyCart is a local, on-demand 3D printing service currently operating exclusively for Colorado School of Mines students and residents of the Golden, CO area. Orders from outside this area will not be accepted at this time.

There is no minimum order quantity. We accept orders for single parts as well as small batch runs, subject to print queue availability.

3. Order Process & Quotes

Submitting an order form does not constitute a confirmed order. Once your form is received, CostlyCart will review your submitted file details and send a written quote to your provided email address. No printing begins until you explicitly confirm the quote in writing.

Quotes are calculated using the following pricing structure:

The final quoted price may differ from any estimate if the submitted file requires significant supports, dense infill, or other factors that affect print time or material use. All such differences will be communicated before printing begins.

4. Turnaround Time

CostlyCart targets a 24-hour turnaround from the moment a quote is confirmed by the customer. This is a goal, not a guarantee.

Turnaround times may be extended under the following circumstances:

If your order cannot be completed within 24 hours, CostlyCart will notify you by email as soon as possible with a revised estimated completion time. We appreciate your understanding — this is a small, one-person operation and we will always communicate delays promptly rather than leave you without an update.

5. Intellectual Property & File Ownership

You retain all intellectual property rights to the 3D models and files you submit. By submitting a file, you grant CostlyCart a limited, temporary, non-exclusive license solely for the purpose of manufacturing the requested part. Your files will not be shared, sold, or reproduced for any other purpose.

You warrant that you have the legal right to print the submitted files. CostlyCart reserves the right to refuse to print any file that depicts weapons or weapon components, illegal items, content that violates a third party's intellectual property rights, or any content deemed harmful or inappropriate at the sole discretion of CostlyCart.

6. Print Quality & Mechanical Liability

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing is a manufacturing process with inherent limitations. All parts will have visible layer lines, and standard dimensional tolerances are approximately ±0.2mm. Surface finish will vary depending on layer height, orientation, and geometry. Parts are provided as-is.

PLA, the material currently offered, is a general-purpose plastic suitable for prototypes, models, and light functional use. It is not suitable for high-heat environments (above approximately 60°C), prolonged UV exposure, or safety-critical structural applications.

CostlyCart is not liable for the structural integrity, mechanical performance, or fitness for purpose of any printed part. It is entirely the customer's responsibility to evaluate whether a PLA FDM print is appropriate for their intended use. CostlyCart accepts no responsibility for damage, injury, or loss resulting from the use or failure of a printed part.

7. Local Pickup & Unclaimed Orders

All completed orders must be collected in person in Golden, CO, near the Colorado School of Mines campus. CostlyCart does not offer shipping. Pickup location and logistics will be coordinated via email after your order is confirmed.

If a completed part is not collected within 14 days of the completion notification email, CostlyCart reserves the right to discard the part. No refund will be issued for unclaimed orders.

8. Payments, Cancellations & Refunds

Payment is due upon pickup. Because 3D printing is a custom manufacturing service, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded once printing has begun. If you need to cancel, contact us immediately — if printing has not yet started, we will accommodate the cancellation at no charge.

If a part fails to print correctly due to a machine or operator error on our end, CostlyCart will reprint the part at no additional cost.

Refunds or reprints will not be issued for failures caused by issues with your submitted file, including but not limited to: walls that are too thin to print reliably, non-manifold geometry, incorrect scale, or design features that are incompatible with FDM printing. Any known file issues will be flagged at the quote stage before printing begins.

9. Changes to These Terms

CostlyCart reserves the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated term
